Rafe Champion warns of the dangers of bread:
7. Bread has been proven to be addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water to eat begged for bread after as little as two days.8. Bread is often a “gateway” food item, leading the user to “harder” items such as butter, jelly, peanut butter, and even cold cuts.
9. Bread has been proven to absorb water. Since the human body is more than 90 percent water, it follows that eating bread could lead to your body being taken over by this absorptive food product, turning you into a soggy, gooey bread pudding person.
Obviously inspired by the estate of Dr. Atkins. :-)

This comes as no surprise to one who has seen the effects of bread on young adults

As someone who works regularly with 11-13 year old boys, I can assure you bread has a few smaller effect on them than, say, Mountain Dew!

It is gratifying to see that my efforts to alert the world to this little-recognised danger have travelled to the Emerald Isle. This is especially touching as I grew up on the edge of a farming village in Tasmania called Irishtown.
I would also like to endorse the comment on Mountain Dew.
